User Experience Researcher 

We are looking for an experienced UX researcher to join our team. This UX researcher will be responsible for helping to define and drive the future of our user experience to ultimately develop relevant products and services for our customers through customer centered, data-driven solutions and design innovation. Determining customer needs will be achieved through core research practices conducted via a design thinking process. This individual will participate in leading the development of testing plans, execution of research, and documentation alongside partners cross-functionally in product management, engineering, design, data/analytics, care, and the competitive and customer insights team (CCI). Also important to the role will be to inspire change, deliver oral and written presentations, evaluate qualitative and quantitative data, and assist the UX team to better understand what would make a user’s experience more desirable, intuitive, accessible, and seamless. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to use the right methodology to test customer facing UI designs via: usability testing, user interviews, contextual inquiry, click tests, card sorting, tree tests, task analysis (success rate, time on task, use error tracking), benchmark testing, bug identification, exploratory formative testing to understand customer behavior, attitudes, and needs at various stages of the design process.
  • Identify and recruit target users for research activities.
  • Work cross-functionally with design, product management, data science, content design, engineering and other researchers to organize opportunities, identify key questions, execute research, and synthesize insights. 
  • Generate insights that shape how product teams think about medium and long term product strategy. 
  • Promote findings and propose strategy improvements to different audiences using writer and oral communications in creative and compelling ways.
  • Collaborate with Vistaprints customer insights team to size market opportunities.
  • Act as a thought leader in domain of research, while advocating for people who use our products.

  • Ability to perform all research-related tasks start to finish from research planning, evaluation, and iteration.
  • Ability to formulate specific, answerable, and practical questions in collaboration with cross-functional teammates.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and act as a strategic partner in product decisions.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Willingness to adapt in fast-paced and often ambiguous working environments.

 

Qualifications 

  • B.A/B.S. in a human behavior related field such as human-computer interaction, psychology, social science, or equivalent. 
  • 5+ years of UX research experience.
  • Advanced understanding of qualitative methodology, behavior analysis, and statistical concepts.
  • Advanced experience using research and survey tools such as Usertesting.com, Optimal Workshop, Alchemer, UserInterviews.com, etc. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • Deep familiarity with the product development lifecycle, including agile development, design thinking and design sprints. 
  • Experience using collaborative company wide tools such as Confluence, Box, Google Analytics, Zoom, Slack, Jira, Miro, etc.
  • Experience with SQL/Python/Data gathering framework valued but not required.
