What You Will Do:

As Associate Data Governance Manager, you will drive forward the data governance office. You will build and maintain policies, principles and processes that will help to govern our data in our data mesh. With support and mentorship from the Data Governance Manager, you will closely collaborate with data product owners and data engineers from the DnA and the technology organization and work together to ensure ownership and compliance against governance standards. You will build and engage a community of seeking data governance fans within the company!

  • Implement and lead data governance programs and policies to improve discoverability, self-explanatory and trustworthiness of our data
  • Support our data domain leaders and data products teams to align with data governance and data privacy policies
  • Solve data governance-related challenges in different tools like Snowflake, Alation, or Looker
  • Lead the creation of policies and standards
  • Ensure that data producers and consumers are compliant to new data governance policies in place
  • Build and engage the data community to strengthen the data culture within Vista
  • Support the democratization of data with our data literacy initiative

 

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Management, Information Systems, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in data governance in a global technology / software company
  • Deep understanding of data governance practices and experience in defining standards and practices
  • Good communication and social skills along with negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical skills

 

Nice to Have:

  • Be able to work with Agile methodologies and remote tools
  • Knowledge of databases and BI tools and/or experience in writing SQL queries
  • Experience with data governance tools or other tools for data management (e.g., Alation, Collibra, Informatica or BigID) in a decentralized data mesh
