Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer

About the Role:

As a Senior SQA engineer, Vista Quality, you will be mainly responsible for our supply base in North America, interfacing with suppliers and cross-functional team members to meet the goals of the Vista Manufacturing organization. As required you will need to communicate with suppliers based outside of North America as well and drive improvement there.

You will work closely with manufacturing sites in North America to ensure Vista suppliers provide materials that conform to requirements and specifications to enable fast & efficient product launches and ongoing production without interruption.  On the front lines of manufacturing support,  you will lead the deep-dive investigation into supplier quality issues, drive preventive recurrence actions, and support read-across lessons learned to applicable products and processes. Within this role, you will strive to promote excellence in the ‘Supplier Product Quality Approach’ in close collaboration with the manufacturing group.

This role focusses on qualification of supplier and material and includes all process steps necessary to ensure smooth integration of new material into production (i.e. supplier qualification assessments to verify capabilities) and management of material qualification processes.

What You Will Do:

• Drive resolution of escalated supplier quality issues from manufacturing teams, working closely with suppliers to implement closed-loop corrective actions
• Conduct supplier site assessment audits to mitigate quality risks, to drive continuous improvement initiatives and to verify corrective and preventive actions. At so-called 3rd party fulfiller, you will if required assess their Good Manufacturing Practices and/or Social Responsibility aspects.
• Manage the Vista material qualification program for new materials and interface between Vista manufacturing teams and Supplier for alignment on characteristics and specifications.
• Monitor supplier performance trends and take prompt actions for quality issues.
• Synthesize information into concise communications for the management teams.
• Ownership of Supplier Scorecard process and Supplier Material Specification Development process
• Travel required, up to 30%

 What You Need:

• 5+ years of experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment
• Post Secondary in Engineering or equivalent
• 3+ years working in an SQA or Quality function role, previously conducting supplier assessments and qualification task.
• CSQP or CQE Certification – preferred
• Green Belt and or Black Belt Certification - preferred
• Willing to go beyond standard supplier quality tools, learn about assessment criteria for different product categories and become specialist for manufacturing processes for our main raw materials.
• A passion for excellence in people, processes, and analytical skills, and the role that these elements play in quality resolution.

• Common sense and a sense of urgency, assertive & motivated for success
• Highly analytical and skilled at drawing action items and decisions from data
• Strong interpersonal skills: excellent communication skills and ability to interface and influence at all levels and with suppliers.
• Sound and comprehensive problem-solving capabilities/skills (A3 Thinking preferred)
• Experience with the application and execution of Advance Quality Planning methods, tools, and techniques
• Experience in application of Project management methodology
