About the Role

The Production Manager position is to plan, organize and control production for their assigned shift to ensure that products are produced efficiently, on time, within budget and to standard. Responsible for providing training and facilitating process improvements as needed to ensure World Class Manufacturing. They are also responsible for focusing the shift on achieving immediate and short-term objectives (KPI’s) as described by the Senior Manager of Operations.


What You Will Do:

  • Accountable for all aspects of production processes including safety, quality, delivery, cost and morale and drive successful implementation of processes and standards
  • Drive on shift continuous improvement efforts resulting in the elimination of all waste.
  • Manages Production Supervisor(s) including but not limited to planning, coaching, directing, and coordinating their day-to-day activities
  • Administering all aspects of performance management for shift supervisors and oversee completion of the performance review process, provide ongoing coaching and feedback, and career development plans
  • Ensures the operations team readiness to launch successful new programs through engagement in project meetings and ownership in the transition to operations
  • Develop team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short and long-term performance goals
  • Utilize effective problem-solving techniques to drive improvement and deliver sustainable results. (5 Why, Fishbone, A3, etc)
  • Investigate and root cause all quality issues and ensure containments are in place.
  • Responsible to manage training needs and 5S activities within their allotted budget.
  • Ensure operating standards such as standardized work, operating rules, 5S, and visual management tools are consistently implemented
  • Effectively communicate shift successes and opportunities daily with recommended improvements actions to be taken by the team in a daily Shift Report
  • Provide leadership, direction and empower Team Members to make daily improvements in the workstation and environment.
  • Ensures all Company policies, procedures, plant standards, and safety rules are consistently adhered to.
  • Final decision rights for managing flow throughout the plant (people, info, materials)
  • Overall accountability for shift performance (process adherence & personnel performance issues)
  • Focal point for shift communications (new processes and process changes)
  • Promotes teamwork on shift & across shifts
  • Facilitates conflict resolution
  • Other duties as assigned by management


What You Need:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a technical area of relevancy or equivalent experience
  • 10 years + of front-line supervisory experience in a large manufacturing environment
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels and all positions within the organization
  • Driven and upbeat with a strong technical background and understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles
  • Desire to function in a team-based environment with aspirations for personal growth
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and dedication to Team Member morale, customer service, safety, quality and delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Superior organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Must be flexible to work all shifts on a temporary basis
